SML servers can receive audio through (multiple/multi-channel) sound cards, including:
- Windows compatible sound cards
- Axia, Wheatstone and Dante AoIP drivers
- Sonifex AM/FM/DAB/DAB+ Radcap multi-channel tuner cards
– PCIe FM 6, 12, 18, 24 or 32 channels; AM 2 to 32 channels; both expandable through acquisition of an expansion key
– PCI FM 6 or 24 channels; DAB/DAB+ one ensemble - AudioScience PCI/PCIe 4 or 8 channel FM/AM/PAL/NTSC (audio-only) tuner cards
- multiple Internet streams using virtual sound cards (mp3 streams, Windows Media Player compatible streams, streams played by Flash players embedded on web pages)

Supported storage configurations:
- Primary online storage: NTFS filesystem; local disks (recommended RAID 6 using enterprise class disks); NAS over iSCSI; SAN over Fiber or similar;
- Secondary online storage: Local or NAS/SAN – network over SMB protocol
Radio capturing:
- For capturing multiple radio-signals (AM or FM or DAB/DAB+) we suggest Sonifex Radcap cards (up to 32 channels FM or AM, or four ensembles DAB/DAB+) or AudioScience ASI8821/8921 (up to 8 channel AM/FM mix, or up to 8 channels HD Radio/DAB/DAB+ up to 8 channels audio off NTSC/PAL/SECAM), allowing you to control the tuners remotely as well.
