SML servers can receive audio from IP sources and through (multiple/multi-channel) sound cards, including:
- AES67, Axia, RAVENNA, WheatNet, Dante (in AES67 compatibility mode) - directly over network without the driver
- IP/OTT streams - HLS, MPEG-DASH, RTSP, RTMP, MPEG-TS, Icecast/Shoutcast
- Windows compatible sound cards
- Compatible professional multi-channel tuner/streamer device
- Sonifex AM/FM/DAB/DAB+ multi-channel PCIe tuner cards

Supported storage configurations:
- Primary online storage: NTFS filesystem; local disks (recommended RAID 6 using enterprise class disks); NAS over iSCSI; SAN over Fiber or similar;
- Secondary online storage: Local or NAS/SAN – network over SMB protocol
Radio capturing:
- For capturing multiple radio-signals (AM or FM or DAB/DAB+) we suggest Sonifex PC-FM, PC-AM or PC-DAB cards(up to 32 channels FM or AM, or four ensembles DAB/DAB+) or Audioscience ASI2816 1RU 4-16 channel radio tuner/streamer or AudioScience ASI8821/8921 (up to 8 channel AM/FM mix, or up to 8 channels HD Radio/DAB/DAB+ up to 8 channels audio off NTSC/PAL/SECAM), allowing you to control the tuners remotely as well.
